My Dogs Just Won’t Behave
There are a lot of ways to make your dog behave better, one of those ways to try and understand it as much as you can. Sometimes attention is all that is needed to keep it well behaved and well connected to its owner.
If you want your pet to behave, do not pay attention to it or spoil it if it asks for more than it deserves. If your dog can easily let your guard down by acting cute and defenseless, then you have fallen for its trap - you’re only encouraging its bad behavior by letting it off the hook just because you can’t resist its eyes. Don’t forget you place - you are the alpha. What you say must be respected - it is your follower and you are its master.
How your dog seems to behave around you isn’t always its fault. Dog owners are sometimes to blame for their pet’s bad behaviors because of ill treatment that they receive from their owners. Internalize for a moment of what you do to your pet on a daily basis. Try and remember if you had physically abused it for a petty crime that it committed. Is your dog malnourished because you’re not feeding it enough? Remember, dogs can openly recall the bad things you’ve done to them. If you do not set things right with your pet, it may act upon it’s hatred towards you - which may not bide well with your household.
A dog will not behave properly because the owner is not paying it enough attention. Most dog owners will be surprised at the lengths canines go through to get themselves noticed. They want to be played with and thrive on your attention to keep them sane animals. Sometimes having a full belly isn’t enough for them, so why not play with them for a bit?
Punishing your pet the wrong way can affect how your dog behaves. Slapping around your dog with a newspaper is never a good idea, even if it’s done something terribly wrong. If you’re mad at them, make sure to use a commanding voice that doesn’t escalate to shouting. Punishing them in a wrong way will drift you and your pet apart.
