Some dogs live indoors and others outside the house depending on the preference of the owner. It is a good idea to use a heated dog bed when leaving your dog outside in cold weather. There are many different types of heated dog beds like those used when leaving your dog outside during a cold night.

A heated dog bed uses a thermostat to control temperature, and can be used to set an ideal temperature when your dog sleeps. Dogs tend to sleep well in these beds especially when the weather is cold. Heated dog beds come in a variety of sizes and types, such as those running on AC power and ones with a removable heater which allows it to be used as a dog travel bed when travelling to a warmer destination. Heated dog beds are machine washable in general and are considered low power devices so power usage should not be a major concern. You should check the quality of the cords on a heated dog bed, the better models have the cords wrapped in steel to prevent dogs from chewing.

Advantages of having dog beds heated include the following:

1. Single pups that do not have a mother available to them. They can also be good for pups that are not part of a litter, since the puppy does not have others to keep him warm he can use the heated bed.

2. Arthritis and joint sufferers. Older dogs typically have joint pain and benefit greatly from heat therapy. Also dogs that are overweight can get extra support.

3. Guard Dogs and Outside Dogs will rest better with dog beds heated. This will improve performance during security patrols.

4. This will provide a safe den. Dogs that have been moved into a new environment will feel warm and secure.

As we have seen having dog beds heated is not just for comfort but can provide theurapeutic benefits to your dog. Many may see a dog as just another animal, however, with proper care they can live longer and have a higher quality of life.
