If you are interested in a dog training career, the first place you should look for information on the subject is the Internet. Numerous dog training Web sites have cropped up over the last few years with information on how to begin a dog training career. Many of these sites will have links to training programs that you can enroll in to begin your dog training career. However, be forewarned that a dog training program will be very expensive and it will take at least three years before you can truly begin your dog training career.

Once you have been trained, a dog training career starts with getting a job as a dog trainer. As most pet stores now offer dog training classes, it will not be that difficult for you to get a job as an assistant dog trainer. Once you have proven yourself as an assistant, most stores will promote you to a dog trainer, which will boost your dog training career. Most stores require that you work as an assistant dog trainer in your dog training career for at least a year before they promote you to a full on dog trainer.

Once you have worked as a regular dog trainer for a few years in your dog training career, you will be able to start working for a company that specializes in specific types of dog training. This will greatly jump start your dog training career because you will be paid much higher as a private dog trainer than you will be as a store dog trainer. Once you have gotten a few more years of private dog training under your belt in your dog training career, you can consider starting your own personal dog training company. Most dog trainers do not take this step in their dog training career until they have worked in the dog training world for at least ten years. This is because it takes about that long to fully master all the various training techniques for the all the different dog breeds and dog personalities that exist.

Because of the time, money, and dedication necessary to begin and be successful at a dog training career, make sure that you are one hundred percent positive you want to be a dog trainer before embarking on such an arduous career. One good way to research a dog training career is to ask local dog trainers if they are happy with their dog training career. Most store dog trainers will gladly talk to you about your various options and give you insight into the life of a dog trainer.
