When we got our new Goldendoodle puppy, I had not set anything up at all. All I had done was buy a crate that was too large, set the appointment with the breeder, and headed out. On my trip home the pup had pottied in his crate, gotten it on his fur, and I could see he had roundworms.

Thankfully, I got the puppy in to see the local vet by calling in a favor, because I had not even set up an appointment. After having the dog shampooed, dewormed, and gotten him a couple of basic vaccinations, I took him back home to the kids. They were ecstatic!

After getting home, I realized a few more things. We did not have a place for the Goldendoodle pup to sleep, he was starting to chew on everything, and he did not even have a name yet. Furthermore, he wanted to run away every time the door was opened.

After a few weeks, life with the Goldendoodle was not going so well. The dog had chewed up all varieties of things in the home, was swallowing underwear left on the floor, the housebreaking was going not so well, and the obedience training that I was working on was not enough, because I was at work all day. If the kids had been older, either my wife or I would have been able to get the training completed, but we did not have the ability. With a heavy heart, even though we knew training him ourselves was a better way to do it, we sent the puppy to a two week training regimen.

We missed him when he was gone for two weeks. The children kept asking when he was coming back, and my littlest one even cried because she missed him so much. Buying the puppy a good thing for our family.

He returned like a new dog! No more gnawing on stuff he was not supposed to, and no escaping. He did still swallow a few more sets of underwear, though. We still had to work on the potty training, but with some effective odor eradicators we were able to get that completed also. The training was certainly important. If I had had a little more time, or could not afford the boot camp, I would definitely have purchased a quality obedience training program and gotten it done myself.

Reasons Why The Dog Is Vomiting

Dog owners would already be accustomed to the vomiting episodes of the pet. Pet owners would already be wise to the pet’s habit of depositing the contents of the stomach on the carpet instead of on the easy to clean tiled floor. It would really be very annoying if the dog would not finish throwing up in one place but would transfer to another to deposit another heap of vomit. In times like this wouldn’t you want to vanish the dog to Neverland?

Given the indiscriminate eating habits of dogs it would not be surprising if they throw up at the snap of a finger. Dogs would eat anything - edible and non-edible. Objects that are not supposed to be in the stomach will be rejected by the dog’s system. Vomiting is nature’s way of removing the offending objects. We know that dogs have such huge appetites. These animals would consume large amount of food in a very short time.

The dog’s habit of gulping down food will result to vomiting if the dry food that fills the stomach absorbs moisture and expands. A dog may have chronic or acute bouts of vomiting. A dog may have sudden vomiting bouts but this condition is pretty ordinary in dogs and dog owners need not be concerned especially if the dog is its usual energetic self.

The dog’s vomiting can be acute or chronic. Throwing up, similar to bouts of diarrhea is common in dogs thus pet parents should not be too concerned more so if a change in behavior is not noticed in the pet. Acute vomiting is normally not a life threatening situation. The dog would throw up once to rid the stomach of the offending foreign body and after a while the pet would be its usual energetic self and would be seen once again munching non-food items. However, there are instances when acute vomiting would need immediate medical attention. Dogs are very curious animals. Although intelligent animals, knowing that a substance is poisonous or that an object can create a blockage is beyond a dog’s ability to contemplate. These situations call for urgent medical attention.

A dog that appears to be healthy would throw up every now and then because of an undiagnosed medical condition. Dogs with chronic bouts of vomiting can have intestinal parasite infestation, parvovirus or distemper. Allergies, pancreatitis, inflammatory bowel disease are other causes of chronic vomiting.

Chronic vomiting can lower the energy level and result to a less than appealing appearance of the dog given the fact that the body would not benefit from the nutrients of the food thus to prevent this situation from happening, the dog must receive prompt medical attention. As bouts of vomiting can seriously affect the health of the pet, a dog owner must ensure that the dog receives prompt medical attention.

Are Pet Supplements Expensive?

Pet supplements might seem a little bit exaggerated for your home pet, but have you ever wondered what’s so special about those pets that win contests? Their health, vitality, happiness or soft hair can’t go unnoticed or undesired by other pet owners. You might think that some animals just have better natural abilities or better genetic attributes, but, before changing your pet, learn that the truth is much more simple: those winners are just better feed with special pet supplements.

Much like us, humans, pets may also be afflicted by way of some nutritional related problems. Even much more often, some say, by reason of the absence of fresh food. Commercial pet food can be usually beneficial but, by reason of the processing procedures, which consists of high heat or perhaps low-quality source proteins, and the long storage times, they fail to supply an excellent nutrition. A few in the most typical complications that affect our pets are those linked to skin or perhaps weight problems. But pets could perhaps suffer from digestive or maybe cardiovascular disorders, lethargy, arthritis, cancer or perhaps canine/feline Alzheimer’s.

Pet supplements are the simplest method to stop this concerns. It will eventually not only strengthen their resistance to conditions or perhaps skin problems, but it will also guide them to prevent cancer, arthritis or even cardiovascular problems. Pet supplements will also improve the absorption of other vital nutrients improving the good quality of your pet’s life.

Veterinarians are well aware of the complexity of each animal, so pet supplements come in various forms like enzymes, minerals, vitamins, probiotics or anti-oxidants; and each kind will be produced to deal with a particular kind of problems. As an example, vitamins deal with pet’s growth, development and life-support functions while minerals deal with the nervous or even muscular systems and the bones growth. One more form of supplemental nutrients, enzymes are responsible for the conversion of food into energy and of the body’s chemistry regulations. The other 2, probiotics improve digestion and metabolism while anti-oxidants are used to fortify the immune system.

Pets cannot buy their own food however , if you ever tried vitamins on yourself, you know the difference that pet supplements will do for your animal companions.

My Review Of Online Grooming School

The online video based course Online Grooming School is a program to teach those interested in becoming professional pet groomers who wish to learn their skills from home.

To many people this sounds like a great idea. It’s sometimes difficult to find or access a professional pet grooming school, meaning many people can’t attend bricks and mortar grooming schools. However, the real question is does the course teach you what you need to know?

To be honest, I was very skeptical when I ordered this course. However, I decided to purchase anyway. For starters, I was sick of paying someone else to groom my own dogs, and I knew that I could save a lot of money if I no longer had to outsource.

Also, I knew that Online Grooming School was much less expensive than traditional grooming schools, and my closest bricks and mortar school was over one hundred miles away from my home. I have a very busy life and have young children, so I don’t have the time to travel so far to attend classes.

Finally, there was one last reason I decided to purchase. The guarantee! As Online Grooming School has a 100% money back guarantee, I knew that if the course didn’t work for me, I could get my money back in full. That’s pretty important!

What did I learn from the course? Surprisingly, I learned pretty much everything that it’s possible to learn in a pet grooming course. The videos were of fantastic quality, and were surprisingly easy to follow. I had somehow imagined that video based learning would be difficult but I was wrong. Not only that, but you can naturally watch the videos over and over, and rewind if you miss anything. I actually think this makes the course a little better than one undertaken in a classroom where you can’t get things repeated over and over, and go back to them days or weeks later.

I didn’t purchase Online Grooming School to become a professional pet groomer, I simply wanted to groom my own dogs. However, I enjoyed it so much that I started to consider a career as a professional groomer. It was at this time that my youngest child started school, and I’d always planned to go to work when my kids were at school, but it’s really hard to find a job that’s easy to fit around school and kids’ schedules. However, working for myself as a pet groomer would allow me to do this perfectly. I became certified through Online Grooming School, which was quite a simple process, and lots of friends, family and neighbors volunteered their dogs for me to practice on (who wouldn’t want their pet groomed for free?)

Do I recommend Online Grooming School? Yes, I do! It’s a great program for those who want to become professional pet groomers who don’t have the opportunity or money to train elsewhere.

What Causes Dogs To Have Seizures

In England they often call them “fits” - what happens when the brain loses control of the body. In the U.S. these fits are more often called seizures. This article will be an information summary about some of the diseases and influences that are known to cause seizures to happen in dogs.

EPILEPSY. The primary cause of dog seizures is epilepsy, but it is important to make the distinction that not all seizures are attributable to epilepsy. The most common form of epilepsy was made known to the world by a group of idiots walking through the woods one day and they all found themselves on the same path, and collectively observed a wolf in a clearing doing the hokey-pokey. This group told the rangers and since the group was considered a group of idiots, the term used to describe this type of seizure is idiopathic epilepsy. Well, that’s not exactly true, but the scientific reason is a bit more boring and doesn’t make any more sense. The truth is that the experts use the term “idiopathic epilepsy” to describe a situation when a dog is having seizures and they don’t know the actual, true cause.

TOXINS. Unfortunately for dogs, there are all kinds of toxins in their environment, many of which can cause seizures. Toxins can be anything from a household cleaning product, somethings used to kill pests or even things like flea medication that is meant to be used on a dog. Antifreeze, insecticides and paint products are also known toxins which can not only induce seizures, but can kill the unwitting animal that ingests them. With early treatment and intervention, most animals have a good to fair prognosis of making a full recovery if they have a seizure as a result of an environmental poisoning.

BRAIN TUMORS. This condition is easy for a veterinarian to rule out, because it is easy to spot any type of abnormal growth on the canine’s brain if he is brought in for seizures. Tumors cause pressure to build upon the brain tissue as they grow, causing neurological abnormalities such as seizures. Fortunately, there are diagnostic tests (MRI or CAT scans) that can determine if that is the problem; however, only a very small percentage of dog seizures are caused by tumors or head injuries. A tumor or a head injury that causes seizures cannot be treated with medications, so that is why it is important to rule these causes out.

TICK INDUCED DISEASES. A tick, a bloodsucking arachnid, can cause Lyme Disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever in dogs, both of which can cause seizures. The chance of a dog being infected by one of these diseases can usually be minimized or avoided by removing a tick within 24 hours of attachment. Most dogs respond very well to the antibiotics that are available currently to kill Lyme Disease and stop it from getting worse.

DISTEMPER. Distemper, in which a fever develops, then diarrhea and dehydration, can cause seizures in dogs, especially puppies, when they lose their maternal antibodies at about the age of 3 months. Distemper is a serious disease, but it can usually be avoided by getting a dog the proper vaccinations, but if a dog does get the disease then it can be a very serious and life threatening situation.

Are you wondering about the most important items to consider when choosing a new pet? Thinking about a new pet is exciting but there are a lot of things to keep in mind, especially if this is your first one.

Allergies are a key concern for you and your family when deciding on your new pet. If someone in your household is allergic to an animal, trying to keep one of that type as a pet can create problems, especially if the symptoms cannot be controlled by medication. However, don’t let allergies automatically stop you from pursuing a pet. The person affected will likely not be allergic to all animals. Also, contemplate a less traditional type of pet such as a lizard or rat.

Initial investment budgets are another piece to think about. The price of the animal is the first thing that comes to mind. A rodent or reptile will be far less costly than a puppies in Toronto. Second to consider is the equipment such as a cage or kennels, leash and collar. Third, and sometimes forgotten, is whether veterinary care will be necessary. A puppy or kitten will need several visits for immunizations in their first year, but a rodent will likely never need vet service.

Continuing costs will also need reflection. Ask yourself how much you can afford to spend on a monthly basis to feed and care for an animal. A large animal will obviously be much more expensive to feed than a tank of fish. Also, small critters, like hamsters or parakeets do not require veterinary check-ups or shots, so there will be little or no future expenses for those types of animals.

The Toronto pet supplies market is enormous. Do not feel overwhelmed by all of the choices. When you first get your new family pet, buy only the items you initially need. For instance, if you’re getting a cat, a month’s supply of food, one or two toys, a collar and a litter box is enough to get started. You can later purchase extra toys, a scratching post, or other accessories. That way your initial purchasing budget will be more manageable.

Take into account how much space you need for the pet you are considering. An animal that lives in a tank or cage will be terrific in any size home. If you live in a an apartment, this type of pet may be the best choice for your family. Perhaps you have a large yard. In that case, you could accommodate even the largest dog. In this situation, the amount of room you have does not need to be a key factor in your decision process.

Before you finally decide on a pet, think about how much love and friendship you want to give and receive from your animal. If you are hoping to find a companion, dogs, cats and even birds make an excellent choice. These types of animals will form a bond of camaraderie with you and your family. However, if you are away from home frequently or do not have the desire for connection with your pet, a better choice may be a hamster, guinea pig or other small creature. These types of animals do not need relationships to be happy.

You are making an exciting decision, so think carefully and keep these things in mind as you proceed.

Everybody loves puppies. In Toronto puppies are the a popular 1st pet for couples, families and singles. Living in the city can be tough on a dog so as an owner. Make sure you visit Mississauga pet stores or a pet supplies store in Totonto to help care for your pet.

Considered one of the most exciting phases of being a pet owner and lover is waiting for your lady’s pregnancy. Along with this excitement comes the need to know of the mood swings that could happen and is going on to your dog. You are definitely anxious for the day when she finally gives birth to adorable little pups. As you hopefully wait for that day, the first thing that you must verify is the actual pregnancy of your canine friend.

You cut the chase any time you look out for these tell-tale signs. Even though obtaining new additions to your pet dogs family is an enjoyable thought, you should psyche yourself mentally but must plan that additional financial bucket. One of the things that you will have to focus yourself with is to arrange a scheduled visit with your animal medical practitioner. On the other hand, it may take several weeks before the vet can fully ensure or detect the pregnancy. Prior to that time, there are some things you can do to verify your pet’s pregnancy. Do not worry though, this is easy to manage and need not be as complex or energy consuming as knowing how to accomplish your own custom website design. Because doggy pregnancy lasts about 63 to 65 days, you should have a sufficient amount of time to identify the pregnancy.

The first thing that you should do is monitor your dog’s behavior. At the time of pregnancy you will see various changes in how your pet acts as she is in the process of several chemical changes inside her body. You may notice that she is less energetic and at times may be aloof. There could also be occasions when she would want beyond her fair share of attention. It would be pretty much similar to the behavior of a pregnant woman meaning that she will be more susceptible to ‘mood swings.’

Indicator number 2: Her appetite will vary. When your pet first starts conceiving, it will be normal for her to suffer a loss of her appetite. As the pups grow up, her preference for food will begin to recover immensely. If she was previously content with a cup or 2 cups per meal, this could double and she would wish to drink water more often. This is not the best time to put her on a diet. If possible, she should be turned to a diet higher in protein. You may move her back to puppy food as this is much higher in protein in comparison to adult dog food. Also at this time, her nipples will become larger and suppler. In addition to this, is the evident increase in your pet’s size; she will have the baby bump.

If all these symptoms are found, you must bring your dog back to the vet. The animal medical practitioner will run numerous tests to verify the pregnancy of your doggy. Considered one of the most popular tests is the ultrasound. This is immensely important as it is non-invasive and is healthy for both the mother dog and the pups. Additionally at around 25 days into the pregnancy, the animal’s body would secrete relaxin and this would appear in endocrinological tests. If you own a stethoscope at your home, you should be able to hear to the heartbeat of the young puppies. Just don’t forget- the heartbeats will be unable to show exactly the number of puppies she seems to have. An x-ray test may be performed to accurately ascertain the number of young puppies that the dog is having. In spite of this, this is not encouraged as the radiation may have side effects on the pups.

As your family dog is nearing her due date, you may notice a white and odorless discharge. Also watch out for her actions as this would tell you if she is about to whelp (give birth). A number of days just before she gives birth, she will start to show more maternal instincts by scratching on the floor to prepare her nest. She can be more restless and would have a preference for dark and quiet places inside the house. She may even take her treasured bone or her toys to this place as she gets ready for a new home for her pups. Take a look at her temperature every once in a while. A day just before she gives birth, her temperature could quickly fall to 99 degrees Fahrenheit.

These guidelines and hints are surefire ways for you to recognize if your pet is an expectant mother. As you are now completely prepared for the arrival of puppies, you can relish the days till they arrive as this will be a truly wonderful valuable experience for the whole family members.

Considered one of the most enjoyable phases of being a dog owner and lover is waiting for your lady’s pregnancy. Alongside this excitement comes the need to be aware of the transformations that could manifest and is taking place to your dog. For new dog lovers, it may be a somewhat anxiety-inducing as you mentally play with it, if your dog is really expecting a baby or if you are just plainly over-eager and imagining things.

You cut the chase when you look out for these tell-tale signs. While having to deal with new members to your furry friend family is a great thought, you would have to psyche yourself mentally and yet should also prepare for that additional financial bucket. The first thing that you will do if you are suspecting of pregnancy is to bring your dog to the animal medical practitioner. Then again, it may take many weeks just before the veterinarian can fully verify or identify the pregnancy. Before that time, there are some things you can do to verify your dog’s maternity. There are two things to consider and these hints are quite simple and not even close to the sophistication of let us say, doing your own custom website design. Considering that doggy pregnancy lasts approximately 63 to 65 days, you should have plenty of time to detect the pregnancy.

The first thing that you need to do is study your pet’s behavior. Expectant mother dogs are much less playful than usual and from time to time, could be distant considering the physiological changes that they are undergoing. She may want to sleep more than usual and would like to be left by herself in her corner. If she is obviously fond of your physical affection, she may seem to be aloof at one time and may only prefer to be patted at times. At one point, this tendency may swing to her needing more love and your attention.

Indicator number 2: Her urge for food will vary. The moment your family dog first starts getting pregnant, it will be typical for her to lose her appetite. As the pups grow up, her preference for food will start to bounce back immensely. She will feel hungry more often and also more thirsty. Be sure that you feed her more and that there is a regular supply of fresh, cool water. Preferably, she should be turned to a diet more in protein. You may swap her back to puppy food as this is higher in protein when compared with adult dog food. Also right now, her nipples will become bigger and suppler. In addition to this, is the notable increase in your pet’s size; she will have the baby bump.

If all these symptoms are present, you should bring your pet dog back to the veterinarian. There are several tests that can be administered to verify the pregnancy of your dog. One of these tests is the ultrasound. This is also safe as it is non invasive and will your pet with the least amount of discomfort. Also at about 25 days into the pregnancy, the pet’s body would release relaxin and this would show up in endocrinological tests. You can also play doctor if you own your stethoscope as you would be fortunate to hear the puppies’ heartbeats. Just don’t forget- the heartbeats will be unable to determine exactly how many puppies she delivers. An x-ray test may be performed to properly find out the number of pups that the family pet is having. On the other hand, this is not recommended as the radiation sometimes have unintended effects on the pups.

As your furry friend is approaching her due date, you may find a white and odorless discharge. Also watch out for her behavior as this would show you if she is going to whelp (give birth). Several days prior to when she gives birth; she will begin to show more behavioral instincts by scratching on the floor to make her nest. She may also prefer staying in dimly lit and quieter corners and may be seen carrying her favorite toys or bone there. Have her temperature using an ear thermometer as the days go by. Her temperature will often drop from101 to 102 degrees Fahrenheit to approximately 99 degrees Fahrenheit. The instant this happens, she will be having a baby within a day! Twenty four hours before she gives birth, her temperature could instantly shift to 99 degrees Fahrenheit.

These guidelines and signs are surefire ways for you to determine if your canine is pregnant. This should truly be a special day for the entire family along with for your family pet so be sure you are fully prepared for your dog’s conception.
