If the dog misbehaves, a quick yank of the chain will choke the dog, thus correcting the bad behavior. Some pet advocates view a choke collar as cruel, while others contend that they are one of the best ways to train a dog.

Clearly, many collars are used for training purposes, and it is possible to use multiple methods with the same dog. All of these training collars should be used in addition to a normal standard collar. A standard dog collar should never come off of a dog’s neck because these are the most important identification tools for dogs.
