Most of us dog lovers are sure that our dog is the only perfect dog on the planet, and of course it would never keep the neighborhood awake at nights with incessant barking. However, there are those times when there is some unknown monster in the shadows that our canine companion is certain must be from outer space. And, until someone comes out there and investigates the matter, our dog will continue to bark. It just might be time to look into the assortment of Bark Collars.

Here are a couple of tips to try before spending money. Simply bring your dog in the house. If you can make it stay quiet indoors, the problem is solved. However, if you are not allowed to have pets in your home, then you need to consider some other option.

Dogs bark for a list of reasons other than imagined monsters, and might not be anything more than being hungry. Make sure the dog is fed, and check the water dish. You dog just might be thirsty and trying to tell you they need water, now! If this is not the reason, then consider when was the last time your dog had a good long run in the park. Dogs have different energy levels and sometimes all they need is to burn off that excess.

Most of us dog owners come home, spend a few minutes with our dog and then either sit and watch television or get involved in something on the Internet. We should make a point of taking our dog out to run and play to burn off the excess energy and if this new schedule does not work, you have the option of these devices which are supposed to help solve the problem.

The first thing that comes to many minds is the static electric shock collar. Notice the word static, because it is as bad as it might sound. This delivers a shock like you get walking across the room and touch a lamp switch. You might get a shock, but you are probably not going to die from it. One of the things to keep in mind about this type of device is that there are international standards for the frequencies used, and not all manufacturers meet these regulations. Be sure to investigate if the model you want is rated for world wide, even if you do not travel abroad.

There are also sonic bark collars which of course use sound frequencies to distract the dog from barking. These may or may not be above the range of human hearing. Some claim to be outside the range, while others might only say mostly outside human hearing. So, you will want to ask about testing it before you buy it.

If you are one of the people who is not excited about the other two choices there is the citronella spray collar which sprays when the dog barks and is supposed to distract its attention. If you like the smell of citronella you might be happy with this type of collar.

When considering the use of any of these products please keep in mind that none of these devices are recommended for constant use. They will need to be recharged, so they are not always a solution to an outside dog that barks constantly. However, for those who have the means of making use of these units there are the above choices to consider in bark collars.
